Uniroyal Tires

A Name With Over a Century of History

Uniroyal grew out of the United States Rubber Company, founded in 1892 — one of the original American tire makers — and took on the Uniroyal name in the 1960s. In North America, the brand has been owned by Michelin since 1990, which means Uniroyal tires sold here are backed by one of the largest tire makers in the world. Outside North America, the Uniroyal name belongs to a different company, which is why you may see different tires sold under the same name in Europe.

Tiger Paw and Laredo

Uniroyal's best-known family is Tiger Paw, a name that has been on Uniroyal tires for decades. Tiger Paw covers everyday all-season touring tires for sedans and crossovers, as well as winter tires — the Tiger Paw Ice & Snow line is built for cold-weather driving. For SUVs and light trucks, the Laredo family covers highway-focused tires.

Uniroyal sits in the middle of the market: a step up from entry-level brands in refinement and tread life, but priced well below Michelin itself. For drivers who want a dependable, comfortable everyday tire with the backing of a major manufacturer — but don't need the top-tier performance or price — it's a sensible choice.

It's a particularly good fit for family sedans and minivans that see a lot of routine driving and need tires that are quiet, predictable, and long-lasting.

Same Name, Different Tires Abroad

Because the Uniroyal name belongs to different companies in North America and Europe, product names and reviews you find online may not apply to the tires sold in Canada. If you're researching a specific Uniroyal tire, make sure the information you're reading is for the North American Tiger Paw or Laredo family. When in doubt, tell us the size you need and we'll show you exactly which Uniroyal tires are available for your vehicle here.
