Firestone Tires

Harvey Firestone and the Indy 500

Firestone was founded in Akron, Ohio, in 1900 by Harvey S. Firestone, and it became one of America's best-known tire brands — famously supplying tires for Henry Ford's early cars. Since 1988 it has been part of Bridgestone, which gives the brand access to Bridgestone's research while keeping it priced as a more accessible alternative. Firestone is also the exclusive tire supplier to the IndyCar Series, including the Indianapolis 500.

Dependable Tires at a Sensible Price

Firestone's lineup covers the practical needs of most drivers. The Destination family is its truck and SUV line, ranging from comfortable highway tires to all-terrain designs. Firehawk covers performance driving. WeatherGrip is Firestone's all-weather tire, built to carry the severe-snow rating so it can stay on year-round. For dedicated winter tires, the Winterforce family is designed for cold, snowy roads, and some sizes can be studded where that's allowed.

Firestone sits in a sweet spot: backed by a major manufacturer's engineering, but usually priced below Bridgestone and Michelin. It's a sensible choice for drivers who want a well-known name and dependable all-round performance without paying for the very top tier.

Firestone's light truck tires are also a common choice for work trucks and vans, where durability and value matter more than outright performance.

Firestone Winterforce for Rural Roads

For drivers north of Aurora — East Gwillimbury, King, and rural roads that see less plowing — a winter tire that handles deep snow and ice matters more than one tuned for cleared city streets. Firestone's Winterforce family is built for those conditions, and some sizes are designed to accept studs. Ontario has specific rules about where studded tires can be used, so if you're considering studs, ask us first and we'll explain the current requirements.
