Goodyear Tires

An American Original

Goodyear was founded in 1898 in Akron, Ohio, and named after Charles Goodyear, whose discovery of vulcanization in the 1830s made durable rubber tires possible in the first place — although he had no connection to the company itself. Today it's one of the largest tire makers in the world, famous for the Goodyear Blimp, and in 2021 it acquired Cooper Tire. Goodyear has also manufactured tires in Napanee, Ontario, for decades.

A Tire for Nearly Every Vehicle

Goodyear's lineup is broad. The Assurance family is its core passenger line, including long-tread-life versions and the Assurance WeatherReady, an all-weather tire rated for severe snow. Eagle covers performance driving. Wrangler is Goodyear's truck and SUV family, ranging from highway-focused tires to aggressive all-terrain designs like the DuraTrac. For dedicated winter tires, look at the WinterCommand and Ultra Grip families.

That range is Goodyear's real strength: if you have a household with a commuter sedan, a family SUV, and a work truck, you can often keep all three on the same brand and get consistent quality across the board.

Goodyear for Work Trucks and Family Vehicles

For pickups that tow, haul, or work on job sites, Goodyear's Wrangler family includes light truck tires with higher load ratings — make sure the load range matches what you actually carry, not just what came on the truck. For family vehicles, the Assurance family focuses on comfort and tread life. Either way, bring us your current tire size and tell us what the vehicle does day to day, and we'll narrow down which Goodyear family makes the most sense. And if you're replacing tires on a vehicle you plan to keep, it's worth looking at Goodyear's longer-wearing options first — they often cost little more up front.
